London Surgical Simulation Academy: Mastering operative skills via simulation

London Surgical Simulation Academy (LSSA)

Founded by Mr Bijen Patel, LSSA was established in November 2009 and is the world leader in establishing higher education degrees for acquiring operative surgical skills by simulation.  LSSA is hosted in the Institute of Cancer at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary University of London.  LSSA Masters Programs are awarded by Queen Mary, University of London.

LSSA provides trainees with hands-on training to hone their surgical skills in a laboratory setting with state-of-the-art simulation equipment.  Combined with an experienced faculty, the Academy creates an exceptional teaching, mentoring and learning environment for trainees.

LSSA is also a centre of excellence for educational research into skills acquisition and evaluation. This research helps provide answers to fundamental and ongoing educational issues and provides for the testing of surgical innovations.
